As we enter the summer break, the consortium finds itself in a quieter period, at least in terms of events. However, we have several exciting research outputs to announce, as well as our Consortium aftermovie! 

Consortium Meeting 2025 Aftermovie

We are proud to present this year’s consortium meeting aftermovie. Thanks to all those who contributed, and to Vincent van den Brink for his hard work in creating this aftermovie.

Research Outputs

The consortium’s Special Issue “Re/Presenting Europe and Europeans in Twentieth Century Media – A critical examination” for TMG Journal of Media History out now! Thank you to the editing team, Dr. Rachel Gillett, Dr. Gijs van Campenhout, Dr. Jacco van Sterkenburg, Dastan Abdali, Isabella Hall Allen, Jan Bant and Lis Camelia.

Dastan Abdali’s paper “Exiles from the Netherlands: A Rhizomatic Approach to Dutch Hip Hop History” is published in TMG – Journal of Media History Special Issue. Read here!

Machiel Keestra, Durwin Lynch, & Mercedes Zandwijken publish book chapter ” Collective Healing and Transformation from a Dehumanizing Past through Personal Dialogue:The Keti Koti Table Dialogue Method” in the book “Beyond Inhumanity”. Read here

Esther Captain & Urwin Vyent publish book “Dit monument is het teken dat wij het hebben overleefd” a collection of significant speeches of Jet Bussemaker, Femke Halsema, Linda Nooitmeer, Astrid Roemer, Mark Rutte and
Franc Weerwind, among others, delivered at the annual commemoration of the abolition of slavery on July 1. Buy here

Jacco van Sterkenburg, alongside Irene Blum, Isabel Awad, and Alexandre Diallo, also published an article in the TMG Special Issue entitled “Colin Kaepernick and Today’s (Re) Surge of Athlete Activism: New Media Environment, New Game?”. Read here!
