Student Assistant position 8 hours a week for NWO project “Re/presenting Europe: Popular representations of diversity and belonging in the Netherlands”.
Are you a socially engaged student with an interest in popular culture, representation and belonging? Join our team and help coordinating this multifaceted project.
This position is part of a broad research project in the Dutch Research Agenda: ‘Re/Presenting Europe: Popular Representations of Diversity and Belonging.’ We focus on positive examples of diversity and belonging in society. We examine how they contribute to a sense of belonging across various ‘othered’ (minority/of migration background) communities in Europe. This means we engage with popular sports like football and baseball, and arts and culture with a focus on hip-hop. In the project we collaborate with several universities and societal and grassroot organisations in the Netherlands, Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The goal of the project is to come to a more inclusive understanding of Europe.
About the job:
- Assist the project manager and project leader with the daily tasks of the project; this includes managing the mailbox, taking minutes of work meetings, archiving documents, and scheduling meetings.
- Collect and edit textual and audiovisual contributions for the website and LinkedIn.
- Co-write news articles about the current events in the project.
- Think along and coordinate events happening throughout the project, including our yearly project wide meeting.
About you:
- You have an affinity with the project and the project research aims; thinking in terms of belonging, inclusion and diversity is important to you.
- You are highly organized individual who can take on many tasks at once
- You speak fluent Dutch & English
- You are a second- or third-year bachelor student at UU/ UCU enrolled for the academic year of 2024-2025
