Interactive lecture and workshop: Afropean Decolonial Futures dialogues

On Monday 13 October, Rachel Gillett and Nina Köll hosted the first of several ‘Afropean Decolonial Futures Dialogues’ and University College Utrecht. Together with the public, and students in our “Black Cultural Production and Social Change” class we learned about black Atlantic transfers from Dr Olupemi Oludare, PhD candidate Madeline Young-Touré, and Yetunde Oludare, storyteller and coordinator at Voorkamer, and Migrantour Utrecht. The highlight was using our stories, and our movements, in making and doing and learning together, during the interactive workshops following the lecture. Thanks to the Re/presenting Europe consortium, UvA’s “Decolonial Futures” funding, and all the enthusiastic members of our class, as well as our guest presenters for making this happen. The following events also showcased making and doing – and sharing food, at UvA, University of Exeter, and SOAS.

Verzamelweek Vlissingen was amazing! We want to thank everyone who has shared their stories and treasures. Check out these pictures of the event.
